Connect Claude to Your Restaurant POS with MCP
You probably already ask an AI assistant for help with emails and spreadsheets. With an MCP server, it can also see and act on your restaurant — yesterday’s sales, a delivery with no driver, a table to book — in plain language. OrderRestro has one built in.
What is MCP?
The Model Context Protocol is an open standard that lets an AI assistant call tools in another system. OrderRestro publishes 40 tools at one address, and any MCP-capable client — Claude, for example — can use them. Setup is a URL and a key; the MCP documentation has the exact steps.
It can only do what you can do
You create a personal key in Settings, and the assistant acts as you. Every tool re-checks the same permission the matching screen needs: a waiter’s key can take orders but gets “Missing permission: refunds.process” if it tries to refund one. Revoke the key and access ends immediately.
What people ask it
- “How were sales yesterday, and what sold best this week?”
- “Which deliveries have no driver? Assign Ravi to the first.”
- “Book four people tomorrow at 8 pm under Mehta.”
- “Add Paneer Tikka at ₹240 to Starters.”
- “What was our profit this month?”
What it deliberately cannot do
Taking payment, managing staff accounts and roles, and restoring backups are not available over MCP, whatever the role. Read-only tools are flagged as such, so your client can let those run freely and ask you before anything that changes data.
