Install (or update) with one command
Pick your OS below. One command checks for Docker and git, installs either if missing, then clones the repo and runs the installer — builds both images, starts the stack, and prints the URL when ready.
Package for Ubuntu 24.04 and Debian 12 or newer, amd64 and arm64, with systemd. It sets up Docker if needed, runs OrderRestro in Docker and starts it. Read the script first, or download the .deb below and run sudo apt install ./file.deb.

Open it in a browser
Once setup finishes, open the address it prints in any browser and sign in. A short wizard then walks you through your restaurant's name, tables, and first menu items.
# Open in a browser: http://localhost:1995
Start taking orders
Add your menu, then go to Point of Sale — tap items, pick a table, send to the kitchen. Any tablet or phone on the same WiFi can be a second till.
# From any device on the restaurant's WiFi: http://<restaurant-computer's-address>:1995
The Ubuntu / Debian package
- Installs a systemd service that runs the version-pinned NodeDR OrderRestro containers with Docker Compose. It is labelled “runs in Docker” because it is not a native binary.
- Installs Docker first if it is missing, and checks the download’s SHA-256 before installing.
- Generates database passwords and secrets on first install into
/etc/nodedr-orderrestro/nodedr-orderrestro.env(mode 0600). They survive upgrades, removal and purge. - Opens on
http://localhost:1995.
Update by running the installer again, or sudo apt install ./nodedr-orderrestro_<version>_amd64.deb. Remove with sudo apt remove nodedr-orderrestro; settings and the Docker volumes (nodedr-orderrestro_pg_data and related volumes) are kept. Back up before upgrading.
